DR. SINI MATHEW

Dr. Sini Mathew graduated from Veterinary school from India in 1995. She worked as a mixed animal practitioner for 10 years before she moved to Canada. She migrated to Canada with her family in 2005 making Edmonton her second home. Dr. Mathew worked in some of the top Veterinary Clinics in Edmonton including Edmonton Humane Society. She is an avid volunteer with the Edmonton Spay Task Force (ASNTF) and Alberta Helping Animal  Society (AHAS). Dr.Mathew is an active member of Alberta Veterinary Medical association(ABVMA), Canadian Veterinary Medical association(CVMA) & Edmonton Association of Small Animal Veterinarian(EASAV). Her special areas of interest  are performing soft tissue surgeries, small animal dentistry and behavioural counselling.

When she is not caring for your furry friends she enjoys cooking, and playing table tennis. On Sunday mornings you will find her teaching the Sunday school children at the local Indian Orthodox church.

DR. ELENA ZHELEVA

Dr Elena Zheleva is a licensed, experienced Edmonton veterinarian.  She is a 1994 graduate Thracian University in Bulgaria. She worked as a mixed animal veterinarian for 14 years. Dr. Elena’s family always had pets that were loved as members of the family and she aspired to be a veterinarian from a very young age. After moving to Edmonton in 2011, very quickly, she finished the rigorous certification process to obtain the license to practice veterinary medicine in Canada and USA.

Elena’s profession is her passion, and just as it gives her a sense of fulfillment, she treating pets like members of the family, she is confident to provide the kind of care you want for your pet. For her, every day is a chance to learn something new and to do work worth being proud of.

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Connie is a Veterinary Technologist at Sandy Lane Pet Clinic. Connie`s first career is Professor of Psychology at the University of Alberta where she teaches courses on the human-animal bond. To help support the health and wellbeing of companion animals and their owners, she also became a Veterinary Technologist in 2009. Connie helped to start the Prevent Another Litter Subsidized Spay and Neuter Program (PALS) at the Edmonton Humane society in order to provide services to the cats and dogs of people with low income or disabilities. Connie now helps lead Alberta Helping Animals Society (AHAS) devoted to providing access to veterinary care and animal related advice for the companion animals of low income, marginally housed, disabled or other disadvantaged people.

Connie is also passionate about controlling animal overpopulation. She travels around Alberta, North and South America, volunteering with the Alberta Spay Neuter task force, Protection of Animals Ecuador, Soul Dog Rescue, and Animal balance.

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Lacey is a Registered Veterinary Technologist. She left a career as a professional pastry chef in 2015 to pursue her lifelong desire to work within the scope of animal medicine.  Originally from the east coast of Canada, she values the outdoors and spends most of her time enjoying the trails along Edmonton’s river valley. She is the proud roommate of a Saint Bernard named Bridgette and a handsome red tabby named Rascal.

Client Services

Heather recently came out of retirement as an accountant to follow her passion for a love of animals. She also volunteers at the Edmonton Humane Society to help animals in need. She enjoys  her customer service role at Sandy Lane Pet Clinic with both the owners and their animals.

Heather is married with two grown children and also has two dogs at home that she refers to as her ‘babies.’

ANNIE MARZULLO

Client Services

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Annie graduated with a B.S. in Business Management from Case Western Reserve University. After moving to Edmonton with her husband in 2013, she started volunteering at the Edmonton Humane Society, assisting in the Prevent Another Litter Subsidy program. She currently volunteers with the Alberta Helping Animals Society and the Good Samaritan Society long-term care facility. She is pursuing her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Alberta, and has an interest in both geriatrics and animal-assisted therapy. In her free time, Annie enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 cats, Netflix binging, and reading.

Kennel Assistant

Marny is a part-time kennel assistant at Sandy Lane Pet Clinic with a passion for cats. Also having volunteered at SLPC since June 2016, she has much respect and love for all animals. She is currently the Edmonton liaison/photographer with a cat rescue group, while in the past she also worked at the E.S.P.C.A. and volunteered at the General Veterinary Hospital.

With her deep love and understanding of cats, she is also known as the “cat whisperer”.

Volunteer

Faith is a volunteer at Sandy Lane Pet Clinic. Currently she is studying animal health at the University of Alberta and hopes to go on to veterinary school.

She has two dogs that she loves – Bandit and Snoopy and she can’t wait to be able to provide medical care for them someday!
